With Beaubier comfortably in the
lead, Elias was planning on set-
tling for 20 championship points
in second place when Scholtz
launched his bike big time on lap
14, bringing out the red flag and
making everyone line up for a 10-
lap sprint to the flag.
What ensued was a dramatic
start to feel much more comfort-
able," Elias said of his race-one
pace. "[It was a] really difficult
race, but at the end, I didn't
expect to open that little gap,
but that helped me a lot to stay
out of trouble. Really, this race
was important, especially after
the disaster in the last corner at
Road America."
