VOL. 55 ISSUE 32 AUGUST 14, 2018 P99
INDIAN ROUTE
The Indian Scout FTR750 continues
to prove its dominance. Just two days
ago Harley-Davidson scored their first
"on track" podium with the XG750R
and looked to possibly be back in
contention. At Black Hills Speedway
13 of the 18 starters were Indian
mounted and they filled the top 12 po-
sitions at the end of the night. There
were two Harley-Davidson XG750Rs
and two Harley-Davidson XR750s
along with one Kawasaki Ninja 650 in
the AFT Twins final. The AFT Singles
main was somewhat more diverse.
It had 12 Honda CRF450Rs, three
Yamaha YZ450Fs, one Husqvarna
FC 450, one KTM 450 SX-F and one
Kawasaki KX450F.
VICTORY FAUX PAS
The third AFT Singles heat saw
the first of two major accidents as
the race was coming to a conclu-
sion. On the last turn of the last lap
a rider fell exiting turn four. Young
Winconsin rider Alec Muth could
not avoid the downed motorcycle
and crashed heavily at the exit of the
turn. Muth was transported to the
hospital with undisclosed injuries.
Later, in a more bizarre crash, Davis
Fisher pulled a big wheelie as he
was winning the second AFT Twins
semi. The "hundred mile an hour"
wheelie turn into disaster as the bike
flipped over leaving Fisher sliding
into turn one as the bike flipped
violently ahead of him.
Briefly...
This was about how close it
was at the finish, with Mees
barely holding on for the win.
