the next five laps.
"We went back and forth," said
Mees. "When he passed me the
second time, I was able to learn
a few things that he was doing. I
applied them and was able to get
by him and then used some of
the things he was doing. I felt it
kind of worked in my favor."
As the laps wore down, Mees
again took the lead and pushed
to his biggest advantage of the
race at just over three-tenths
race this year, that has been the
signal that the race for the win
was over and now the question
would be who is going to finish
second. Not this time. Carver
stuck to his high line, just above
the wide groove and retook the
lead on lap 11. "I never touched
the groove all night, just kept
working up and up," said Carver.
Even though there was pass-
ing going on all around the
track, Carver held the point for
Jeffrey Carver (Roof-Systems
of Dallas, TX/Indian of Metro
Milwaukee, Indian Scout FTR750)
got the holeshot in the 25-lap
main. Chad Cose (Indian Motor-
cycle of Oklahoma City/Englehart
Research & Technologies, Indian
Scout FTR750) and Mees were
locked to his rear wheel. Mees
quickly took second and started
to methodically run Carver down.
On lap five Mees worked his
way to the front. In almost every
Carver (23) wouldn't leave Mees alone.
