n the last two rounds of the
MotoAmerica AMA/FIM North
American Road Racing Cham-
pionship, Cameron Beaubier has
run the gauntlet and taken control
of the champion after a slow start
to the season. In front of a home
crowd at WeatherTech Raceway
Laguna Seca, the Monster En-
ergy/Yamalube/Yamaha Factory
Racing Team rider collected his
third and fourth race victories in a
row, going from 32 points behind
in the points chase to 29 ahead
in the span of two rounds and
four races.
Beaubier's main championship
rival, number-one plate holder
Toni Elias (Yoshimura Suzuki) had
a tough weekend, crashing twice
in race one on Saturday and
working extra hard for second
place Sunday. He scored just
three points Saturday and went
into damage-control-mode Sun-
day with a hard-fought second,
keeping Beaubier in sight in the
championship standings. But
Beaubier was well out of his sight
on the track.
In Supersport, which ran just
once on Sunday, it was a show-
down between Polesitter Valentin
Debise (Ecstar Suzuki) and JD
Beach (Monster Energy/Yamaha
Extended Service/Graves Yama-
ha). The two went back and forth
