MOTOCROSS LUCAS OIL AMA PRO MOTOCROSS CHAMPIONSHIPS ROUND 4 / JUNE 16, 2018 HIGH POINT RACEWAY / MT. MORRIS, PENNSYLVANIA P64 iii My Own Race: 94 KEN ROCZEN 4TH 450MX (7-3) "I kind of struggled with the track, especially in practice," said Ken Roczen of his day. "I wasn't really gelling with the new layout. As always though, I went to the first start confi- dent. I got a decent jump, but there was a big pileup in the first turn that I was involved with. I got run over, had bikes on top of me, and was basically at the bottom of the pile. Luckily nothing was hurt or wrong with the bike, so I just had to come from behind and made my way up to seventh. After the first moto, I came back in and just tried to get as much rest as possible before the second race. I [said I] was going to get the [second- moto] holeshot and I did, so I was pretty stoked about that. I tried to run up front as long as possible, but I didn't have it today and faded. I still finished third, which is good. I have to be okay with it, even though I'm a little bummed." 816 ENZO LOPES 25TH 250MX (20-39) "It was the craziest track I've ever ridden in my entire life," said rookie Enzo Lopes. "The ruts were deep and didn't seem to end. I had a good start and was running third, but I got tight and went back to 11th. I had a crash, and then I crashed again and got my leg stuck under my bike. I had a decent start in the second moto, but I fell while going down one of the hills and had to stop. It turns out that I broke my collarbone, which is a heartbreak. I'll give it some time to heal and be back as quickly as possible." 25 MARVIN MUSQUIN 2ND 450MX (1-2) Marvin Musquin was fast but the overall win barely eluded him. "The first moto I was really comfortable behind Eli [Tomac] and I was relaxed, but in the second moto I could tell Eli picked better lines, had a better rhythm and he was on it," Musquin said. "It was really hard to duplicate the first moto, that's all. That was my goal but unfortunately, I came up short. Obviously in the first moto I had better lines and I was able to capitalize on that, but not in the second moto. I gave my best, I fought really hard. I'm really proud of the effort I gave today. I'm happy to win first moto, unfortunately I got second overall, but it was a great result and I showed good speed today." 54 PHIL NICOLETTI 11TH 450MX (16-9) Phil Nicoletti made his Rockstar Energy Husqvarna debut at High Point, riding in place of injured riders Dean Wilson and Jason Anderson, and although he had a solid outing, he expects more as he sorts out his new motorcycle. "This was my first round with the Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory racing team," Nicoletti said. "I think I prepared well coming into the race, but California tracks are nothing like the track here at High Point, so I kind of had to relearn a few things and make some changes. I got taken out in the first turn of the first moto, then went down two more times after that. I ran up front for a while in the second moto but ran out of steam and ended up ninth in that moto and 11th overall." 51 JUSTIN BARCIA 3RD 450MX (3-5) Justin Barcia was back up front giving them hell at High Point. In the first moto, he battled up front, and even passed his way by eventual moto winner Marvin Musquin early in the moto for second; a spot he held for a handful of laps. But in moto two, Barcia had a run- in with another rider and bent his front-brake rotor early in the race, leaving him without a front brake for basically the entire moto. He still managed fifth and third overall. "All-in-all, it was a solid weekend," Barcia said. "The first moto I struggled a little bit with arm-pump fighting the rough track conditions. I felt like I could have had my bike a little bit better for the first moto so in between motos we made some good changes and I felt good about them heading into moto two. Unfortunately, going into the second corner I tagged some- body and bent my front-brake rotor so I had no front brake the whole race, which was super-challenging. That's a really difficult track to ride without a front brake, with the deep ruts and all."
