LAFFERTY LANDS EAST HARE
SCRAMBLES WIN
R
ound six of the SRT/AMA East Hare Scram-
bles in Tamaqua, Pennsylvania, June 16-17,
was a fight for survival because of the heat and
humidity, but that didn't seem to put a damper on
the fun factor for the near 600 racers that turned
out for the co-sanctioned ECEA and AMA/D-6
Hare Scrambles Series event, held on a coal-
mining field.
In the premier race Sunday afternoon, it was
Hunter Bush (Yamaha) taking the early lead, but it
was Ryder Lafferty (KTM) who held the point after
the completion of the first lap. The warm condi-
tions didn't faze Lafferty one bit. Instead, he just
turned up the heat of his own and opened up a
comfortable lead that would keep all the way to the
finish of the race.
As the race progressed,
Wally Palmer (Husqvarna) was
putting the moves on Jesse
Groemm (KTM) for second
place late in the race. Palmer
eventually made the pass and
made it stick to the finish, with
Groemm hanging on to third.
Bush ended up fourth.
Points leader Kyle McDonal had a tough day.
He struggled during the first lap and just couldn't
find his usual groove and had to settle for sixth
overall and fifth in the Pro class. Luckily for him,
McDonal still enjoys a comfortable points advan-
tage.
Fifth overall was the top-placing A 250 rider
Johnny Manera (KTM).
Justin Lafferty (KTM), Michael Beeler (A
200-class winner), Landon Bruner (KTM) and Mat-
thew Davis (A 250, Yamaha) completed the top 10
overall.
Approximately 100 riders competed in Satur-
day's Youth Main. Many of the riders struggled in
the deep coal dust. Max Fernandez (KTM) and
Brayden Nolette battled to the end with Fernandez
holding on for the victory.
