BURNWORTH, NICOLL STAR AT SOCAL
VINTAGE MX CLASSIC
T
he ninth annual SoCal Vintage MX Classic took place at Glen Helen Raceway, where Scott Burn-
worth once again turned the clock back a few decades for a weekend of motocross the way it used
to be—metal tanks, drum brakes and air-cooled bikes. An array of vintage machinery and almost-as-
vintage racers came out for the annual event, which drew about 225 entries.
In a new feature for the 2018 SoCal Vintage MX Classic, Burnworth introduced the Meister Cup—a
Maico-only class (which Burnworth handily won). And back for another year was the SoCal CZ Chal-
lenge, this time topped by Ayrton Sieja.
The 100cc Works Revenge remains a highlight of the SoCal Vintage MX Classic, and Burnworth again
starred in an entertaining battle for the overall with Shaun Kalos, but this time Kalos would take the win.
Kurt Nicoll shined up his Kawasaki KX500 two-stroke and used the event as preparation for the
upcoming Vet MXdN at Farleigh Castle, and went on to win all six motos he entered. CN
