A photo from the Springfield Mile was pictured on the cover of
Cycle News 30 years ago. Bubba Shobert took the win ahead
of Scott Parker and Rodney Farris… Rick Johnson and Guy
Cooper were the big winners at the 250/125cc National Motocross
at High Point… Eddie Lawson scored a wire-to-wire win at the
Italian Grand Prix at Imola… Eric Geboers won the 500cc MXGP
in Finland… Kurt Hough broke through to win the Rose City ISDE
Qualifier in Michigan.
Our cover story 20 years ago was the AMA Superbike round from
Road Atlanta. Miguel Duhamel and Anthony Gobert shared the
wins; Ben Bostrom won the 600cc Supersport race… Alex Criville
topped the 500cc World Championship Road Race at Paul Ricard
Circuit in France… We featured an interview with dirt tracker Billy
Martin… For the second race in a row Sebastien Tortelli finished
ahead of Stefan Everts at England's Foxhill Circuit.
