and five of those were the lead pack.
With five laps to go, Carver held
a little over one-second advantage
and Mees moved to second in an
attempt to run down the leader.
Coolbeth also got around Fisher,
but they were unable to shake the
youngster off. Smith was still close,
but his Indian was starting to balk
and he would end up nursing it
home in fifth.
The crowd that had returned on
Monday cheered on the "home
town" hero Carver as he handed
Mees his first on-track defeat of the
year. Coolbeth was about 0.05 of
a second behind Mees with Fisher
even less back in fourth.
Smith limped across in fifth well
ahead of Chad Cose (Indian Motor-
cycle of Oklahoma City/Englehart
Research & Technology Indian
Scout FTR750) who edged Henry
Wiles (Bandit Industries/Wilco Rac-
ing Indian Scout FTR750) for sixth.
Mikey Rush (G&G Racing/Ma-
chete Energy Drink, Yamaha FZ-07)
finished eighth, the only non-Indian
in the top 12. Ronnie Jones and Jay
Maloney rounded out the top 10, as
Maloney was the last running motor-
cycle, one lap down.
Davis Fisher (67) had a good ride but just missed out on making the podium.
