The Be Wiser Ducati rider fell from his Panigale R at turn three, with the session red flagged and Byrne transported to Norfolk and Norwich Univer- sity Hospital with a series of injuries. Byrne's wife Petra Byrne posted on her Insta- gram page Monday, May 21, "First time I've smiled since Thursday. Operation went well and spine is safe. Now to concentrate on long recovery and fix broken neck and breast bone, and pretty much all his ribs. He is expected to have a few painful days. Thank you for all the messages." CN GLENN IRWIN TAKES 2018 NORTH WEST 200 D ucati rider Glenn Irwin dominated the 2018 North West 200, taking both Super- bike races on offer at the daunting Northern Irish street venue, May 19-20. Irwin bested BMW's Michael Dunlop by a massive 10 seconds with Honda factory star Lee Johnston in third in the premier North West 200 Superbike event, after earlier taking the first race win of the day. The most victorious rider in North West 200 history, Alastair Seeley, once again, added to his tally of wins with victory in the Superstock and Supersport races.
