IN THE WIND P54 BOU GETS TRIALGP CHAMPIONSHIP STARTED T he 2018 FIM TrialGP World Championship kicked off over the weekend with round one taking place in Camprodon, Girona, and to no one's surprise, Toni Bou piloted his Repsol Honda to the top spot. Bou completed the first 15-section lap with 13 points, despite the wet, muddy and oc- casionally rainy conditions. The second lap proved to be trickier for the Spaniard, but he nonetheless maintained his commanding lead over the field to take the overall win. "I am very happy for the victory because yesterday I had a pretty bad qualifying ses- sion and today I had to start among the first riders in the category," Bou said. "The trial was complicated but from the beginning I felt comfortable and I made very few mistakes. It is a great start to the championship and I want to congratulate the organizers, as it has been a very complete trials with very authen- tic areas." GasGas-mounted Jaime Busto got his sea- son started off on the right foot with a strong runner-up finish, carding consistent laps. His GasGas Factory teammate Jeroni Fajardo rounded out the overall podium in third. Vertigo Factory Team rider Jorge Casales just missed out on the podium, edging out TRS rider Adam Raga for fourth. The Beta- mounted duo of James Dabill and Algert Cabestany finished sixth and sev- enth ahead of Repsol Honda's Takahisa Fujinami who came in eighth—a sub-par finish for the Japanese rider who is still nursing an injured shoulder.
