Adam Cianciarulo (Monster
Energy/Pro Circuit Kawasaki)
was determined to finish out the
season with at least one win, and
his last chance to do that was Las
Vegas. A win would also give him
an outside chance at the 250SX
West Championship, so the
incentive to get the victory was
strong, and as it turned out, there
was no stopping him.
Cianciarulo started the main
event in fifth and slowly worked
his way to the front, passing race
leader from the get-go Shane
McElrath (TLD/Red Bull KTM)
on the eighth of the 16-lap race.
From there, Cianciarulo steadily
pulled away, hoping Plessinger
might buckle under the pres-
sure of leading the 250SX West
Championship. And his hopes
nearly came true.
While running just inside the
top 10, right where he needed to
be to wrap up the title, Plessinger
nearly threw it all away when he
swapped out at the halfway point
and nearly crashed. Somehow,
he saved it and went on to finish
eighth, which was just enough to
secure the West title by just two
points.
Aaron Plessinger wrapped
up the 250SX West
Championship with an
eighth in the 250SX East/
West Shootout. He was
beyond thrilled.
