FLAT TRACK AMERICAN FLAT TRACK SERIES ROUND 3 / APRIL 29, 2018 TEXAS MOTOR SPEEDWAY / FORT WORTH, TEXAS P82 fourth off the start, but stuck on the outside edge of the groove where he was steadily bumped back, eventually dropping all the way down to a 12th- place finish. While the three leaders were cruis- ing, the battle over fourth was heating up. Shoemaker and Wiles were joined by Brandon Robinson (Harley-Da- ing fourth, but Jake Shoemaker (Roy Built/A Vietri/Kawasaki USA, Kawa- saki Ninja 650) wedged his way by on lap three. Most position changes that went on in the pack were because of unforced or forced errors. Davis Fisher (Bob Lanphere Bea- verton Motorcycles/Parkinson Broth- ers Racing, Kawasaki Ninja 650) was FTR750) crash heavily entering turn one after contact with another rider. Baker was knocked out for a short time and was transported to the hos- pital for observation. The first Twins semi was the scene of a spectacular crash. Much like Shipman's crash, Baker's teammate Bryan Smith (In- dian Motorcycle/Allstate Insurance, Indian Scout FTR750) slid down between turns one and two. Jake Johnson (Estenson Racing/Mc- Candless Truck Center, Yamaha FZ- 07) was the first to be collected and Stevie Bonsey (CR Motorsports/Al- pinestars, Harley-Davidson XR750) plowed into both. Bonsey was sent high into the air and landed feet first. In the landing Bonsey suffered a broken ankle. Smith and Johnson returned to the pits battered and with motorcycles too damaged to continue. MAKING WAVES Chad Cose was justifiably proud of his accomplishment. "My career has kind of gone in a little bit different direction than a lot of the top guys. I've had to do a lot of this on my own to get here," said Cose. "I'm on good motorcycles with a good team now. I credit a lot to them. I'm just so excited. I'm glad I could do this for everybody that has always stood behind me." Now that he has hit this milestone, he's looking to the future. "This is only our third race on the Indian. It's obviously a great motor- cycle. Indian did their homework. We chased them all last year, it's good to get on one." Briefly... This crash in a Twins semi sent Stevie Bonsey high into the air and into the hospital with a broken ankle after hitting Bryan Smith's downed Indian. Jake Johnson also got collected. Smith and Johnson were okay but their bikes weren't.
