GETTING THE JOB DONE
"Obviously it's unfortunate what hap-
pened this week. I don't know what
to say except that it's unfortunate,"
said Jared Mees of his round-two
disqualification. "I just gritted my teeth
and came out to show that we can get
the job done." Getting the "job done"
consisted of setting the fast qualifying
time, winning his heat (narrowly over
Cose) and winning his crash-marred
semi, before his main-event domina-
tion.
TOUGH ON TOP
The treacherous racetrack was cer-
tainly unkind to the points leaders in
both classes, as Twins points leader
and official round-two winner Kenny
Coolbeth failed to qualify for the Twins
main on his Nila Racing/Columbia Avi-
onics-backed Indian Scout FTR750.
This opened the door for Mees to
regain his lead. Henry Wiles is four
points back with Briar Bauman just
two more behind. Coolbeth drops to
fourth, 14 down. While Singles leader,
Joe Bromley (KTM North America/
Bromley Motorsports, KTM 450 SX-F)
qualified for his main, a 17th-place fin-
ish dropped him seven points back of
new leader Brandon Price.

big crashes that left many battered
and bruised. In the last round of
Singles qualifying, Sandriana Ship-
man (Triple Nickel Racing/Ritchie
Reynolds Racing, KTM 450 SX-F) fell
between turns one and two, collect-
ing Jeremiah Duffy. Shipman suffered
a broken femur, broken hand and
broken wrist. The second Twins heat
saw Brad Baker (Indian Motorcycle/
