VOL. 55 ISSUE 14 APRIL 10, 2018 P85 REIGNS A new day brought new life to the Mees team and suddenly he was picking up where he left off last year. "I came a long way from yesterday to today," Mees said. "I think raining out and coming back today was just good for me men- tally to just relax, debrief and get a good night's sleep. Yesterday we started with the wrong gearing. We went the opposite direction that I wanted to go for the second round and it was worse. In the third round, we were finally in the ballpark. We were nervous. I felt like we were pushing an uphill battle. We were behind a step. W hat a difference a day makes. On Sat- urday, defending American Flat Track Champion Jared Mees had posted 13th fastest time in qualifying and the Indian Mo- torcycle/Rogers Racing team was struggling to get their Indian Scout FTR750 back in the hunt. Just before the semis were called out, pos- sibly the best thing that could have happened for the team, a light rain began to fall. While the heavy rains that were forecast failed to material- ize, enough rain fell to force officials to suspend the action until Sunday.
