VOL. 55 ISSUE 14 APRIL 10, 2018 P37 worked a lot to get back to full fit- ness and I'm satisfied it has started to pay off. The weekend started with me and TKO [Thomas Kjer-Ol- sen, Covington's teammate] going 2-3 in the qualifying race and that showed we both had good speed going into the final motos. "I had good starts in both mo- tos. In the first race I was maybe a bit more relaxed so ended up getting fifth. In moto two I got an even better start and found myself following Prado. I decided to put some pressure on him but he was hard to pass. We both had a good pace and in the final lap I managed to make the pass for my first moto win of the season. The results here in Italy were definitely morale boosting and now I need to continue the hard work for the rest of the season." German upstart Henry Jacobi was impressive at Trentino. The Husqvarna rider took second in the first moto and was again threat- ening to do well in the second moto when he hit the ground. He still ended up an impressive third overall, followed by Vsevolod Bry- lyakov (Yamaha) and points leader Pauls Jonass (Red Bull KTM), who struggled in both motos. Jonass, however, still enjoys a commanding 28-point lead in the championship over his nearest rival, Prado, 180-152. Denmark's Thomas Kjer Olsen (Husqvarna) is third with 145 points. Covington is seventh in the championship with 91 points. American Darian Sanayei was forced to sit out the Trentino round due to a knee injury that he suf- fered while competing in a round of the British Championship the previous weekend. Sanayei rode practice at Trentino but pulled out after experiencing pain in the knee. CN MXGP 1. Jeffrey Herlings (KTM) 1-1 2. Clemente Desalle (Kaw) 2-3 3. Antonio Cairoli (KTM) 4-2 4. Romain Febvre (Yam) 3-7 5. Glenn Coldenhoff (KTM) 7-4 6. Gautier Paulin (Hus) 6-5 7. Tim Gajser (Hon) 5-8 8. Jeremy Van Horebeek (Yam) 10-6 8. Jeremy Seewer (Yam) 8-10 9. Maxime Desprey (Kaw) 12-11 MX2 1. Jorge Prado (KTM) 1-2 2. Thomas Covington (Hus) 5-1 3. Henry Jacobi (Hus) 2-10 4. Vsevolod Brylyakov (Yam) 9-3 5. Pauls Jonass (KTM) 4-9 6. Davy Pootjes (KTM) 8-6 7.
