HAYES WINS WICHITA
ARENACROSS
J
acob Hayes (Team Babbitt's
Monster Energy Kawasaki)
came away with the overall win at
the Amsoil Arenacross round at
INTRUST Bank Arena in Wichita,
Kansas, April 7. Hayes and Chris
Blose (Rockford Fosgate TiLube
Honda) traded wins in the two
main events, but it was Hayes
winning the all-important tie-
breaking second race.
Blose led from start to finish
in the first race, while Hayes
chased from behind.
Hayes, however, went down
and dropped a couple of posi-
tions. He managed to get them
back but lost any chance he
had of catching Blose.
The roles were reversed in
the second race, with Hayes
taking the early lead and Blose
in pursuit. The two ran nose-to-
tail the whole race with Hayes
successfully defending the
number-one position for the
overall win.
Third overall went to Ryan
Breece (Kawasaki) with 4-6 fin-
ished. Daniel Herrlein (7-3) and
Gared Steinke (6-5) rounded
out the top five overall.
With just three rounds left in
the 2018 championship, Blose
leads Hayes by just one point,
74-73. Herrlein is third with 48
points, but right behind him is
Heath Harrison with 46 points.
Ryan Breece continues to
dominate the AX Lites West class.
Breece has won all three races
thus far. Isaac Teasdale (Kawasa-
ki) was second and Kevin Moranz
(KTM) was third. CN
