VOL. 55 ISSUE 13 APRIL 3, 2018 P51
On a night were the formbook
was torn up and put through the
shredder, the Swedish Lidköping
Arena dished out a wild night of
racing. Crashes, mechanicals
and high tension ensured Webb's
ride to the title was anything but
straightforward. Despite holding
a 17-point advantage over closest
rival Taddy Blazusiak (Red Bull KTM
Factory Racing) entering Sweden,
Webb watched Blazusiak win the
opening bout to place third. With
Blazusiak heading Webb and again
looking to close the points gap in
race two, a costly rear suspension
failure knocked Blazusiak out and
ultimately gave Webb the breathing
room he needed to march on to his
first world crown.
