wasaki) hung on for second with
time to spare over Cooper Webb
(Monster Energy Yamaha). Ja-
son Anderson (Rockstar Energy
Husqvarna) had a tough night for
seventh in Daytona but still holds
a 40-point lead as the series
heads to St. Louis.

Daytona has a history of giving
people their first supercross win,
but Brayton's was still unusual.
Typically, it's a motocross spe-
cialist who gets their first SX win
at Daytona, like Mike Kiedrowski
or Ricky Carmichael, but Bray-
ton is a supercross specialist.
"I'm not an outdoor guy! This
is like an outdoor track!" he said.
"I sprinted the first few laps, and
the fill-in racer (on loan from the
Geico Honda squad) and took
off, leading every lap of the main
event. In the final laps, he was
tasked with keeping Eli Tomac
(who won the last two races at
Daytona) at bay, and he had
enough in the tank to do just that,
taking his first-ever main-event win
at almost 34 years of age.
"I can't even describe it,"
Brayton said on the podium.
"This is just...a supercross win at
Daytona? Are you serious?! Oh
my gosh, this is so awesome...
