When people want to talk about determination
or grit, they often talk about racers like Ricky
Carmichael, Ryan Villopoto, Bob Hannah, Ryan
Dungey or Mike LaRocco. But it's easy to stay
motivated when you're reaping the rewards for
your hard work on a regular basis, winning races
and championships. For a guy like Justin Bray-
ton, or others such as Andrew Short in the past,
determination is a much bigger factor. Justin
Brayton (Motoconcepts/SmarTop Honda) has
been chasing his very first supercross win for a
decade, yet he never wavered. Through injuries,
hard luck, loss of rides, he just kept showing
back up and putting it on the line again, deter-
mined to put forth his best effort. And Saturday
night in Daytona Beach, Florida, it finally paid off.
Brayton started second in the main event, be-
hind Christian Craig (Honda HRC), then passed
