You may or may not know Hollister but you
probably know of its influence on the world of
motorcycling. If it weren't for the 1947 rider riot
that took place here during the annual Gypsy
Tour, there would be no Sons of Anarchy. That
little fracas inspired Marlon Brando's outlaw biker
flick, The Wild One, which catapulted riding's out-
law image into the public eye. Hollister, California
hosts this yearly Fourth of July event, going all
the way back to the 1930s.
