OFF ROAD ROCKY MOUNTAIN ATV-MC WORCS SERIES ROUND 1 / FEBRUARY 4, 2018 THE ORLEANS ARENA / LAS VEGAS, NEVADA P70 do going into this weekend," said Robert who actually won the AMA Hare & Hound National opener a week earlier. "I tried to put that out of my mind and stay focused." While he's not planning to run the entire season, Factory Alta Motors-backed Tremaine put on a show on his Husqvarna, run- ning behind Robert. It marked his second runner-up finish in The Orleans round. "I got in behind Taylor; I knew he'd be riding well so I followed him," said Tremaine. "He pulled me, but we pulled away from the pack, and I'm happy with sec- ond. It was a great event. Two years in a row in second." Sutherlin landed a Suzuki ride just before the season. Though he had a slow start, a consistent ride paid off in the end with the final spot on the podium. That podium was certainly earned as he had to run through a hard charging pack, but the two lead- ers were out of reach at the end. "I got a four-kick start, so I had to put my head down early, I pinned it, and worked my way through some guys," said Sutherlin. "By the time I made it to third, Ty and Taylor were just way too far ahead. I just feel great to put this Suzuki on the box. The track is unique. I won here last year and I really want down and got back into my groove." Robert was on a tear last sea- son, winning the first two races in dominant style before suffer- ing a serious injury at the King of the Motos, which forced him to miss four races in the middle of the season. A similar tumble three weeks prior to The Orleans race nearly ended his 2018 season before it started. Robert crashed while training, breaking his upper jaw and cheekbone. However, the five metal plates in his jaw and 10 studs in his mouth didn't appear to slow his charge much, if at all. "It was really stressful and since I hadn't ridden I really didn't know how I was going to With more than 20 entries, the 45-minute Pro race was held separate from the Pro 2 and Pro Lites. The secondary classes held 30-minute races. Robert started the season off just as he did in 2017 with a dominant win. He grabbed the holeshot and gradually pulled away. When a lapper nearly ended his ride, he still quickly recovered and held off the surg- ing Tremaine. "This was a perfect race for me, and I couldn't have asked for anything better," said Robert. "The track was tight, but the lappers were trying to race us and one actually cleaned me out pretty hard. I was a little heated for a couple of laps, but I cooled Ty Tremaine kept the pressure on Robert for most of the race. The Husqvarna rider ended up second.
