SUPERCROSS MONSTER ENERGY AMA SUPERCROSS ROUND 2 / JANUARY 13, 2017 HOUSTON, TEXAS / NRG STADIUM P54 iii My Own Race: 20 BROC TICKLE 8TH 450SX Red Bull KTM's lone representative in the Houston 450SX main event, Broc Tickle, qualified eighth and was pretty consistent in that position throughout race day. In the main event, he started ninth and finished eighth. "I was really looking forward to Houston this weekend, I had a really good week of riding and I felt really comfortable coming into this round," Tickle said. "Overall, it was a decent night, I'm not pumped with where I finished but I am better than what I was last year. With that being said, that's showing progress for myself but I'm not okay with eighth. I feel like I should be fighting for podiums and inside the top five each and every weekend, so I'll keep working this week, ride with the boys and put in another showing at Anaheim." 14 COLE SEELY 4TH 450SX Honda's Cole Seely briefly held a podium spot in the Houston main event. Seely qualified fourth, and started around fifth in the final on his way to fourth place. "It's great to see improvement from the first round, especially on a track that seemed to change every lap," Seely said. "I really thought I could have had my first podium of the year, but I know I have the speed to be up there so we'll keep pushing." 28 SHANE MCELRATH 4TH 250SX WEST TLD Red Bull KTM's Shane McElrath came into Houston with the red plate on his 250 SX-F, and early in the main event, he was pressuring leader Joey Savatgy for the lead, but late in the race, he fell into the clutches of Aaron Plessinger and then Chase Sexton to finish fourth. "The track was very challenging as it changed every lap we rode," McElrath said. "Lots of riders were having trouble so I wanted to make sure we kept it off the ground and stayed in the hunt. This is only the second race so we can't throw it away with a track as tough as we saw tonight. I am really looking towards the long term goal as well as winning races, so we'll be back strong next week." 17 JOEY SAVATGY 2ND 250SX WEST Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki's Joey Savatgy had a strong race in Houston, leading 12 of 18 laps on his way to second. Although he seemed to be under constant attack, he held tough and only lost one spot in the last few laps of the race. "I felt like I was riding fast to be comfortable on that track," Savatgy said. "I seemed to catch lappers at a bad spot not allowing me to catch first, but I didn't want to ride over my head in only the second round of the season. The track changed every lap so it was challenging to pick up time, so in the end I'm really happy to get second." 92 ADAM CIANCIARULO 7TH 250SX WEST Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki's Adam Cianciarulo was one of the fastest guys on the track throughout the 250SX main event, but a couple of falls cost him big. He fell the first time while trying to pass teammate Savatgy for the lead, then again later after he had worked his way up to third. "I know the track was really tough, but it stings a little bit when I was feeling good all day," Cianciarulo said. "It was a big learn- ing experience for me as I adapt more to the hard-packed racetracks that change so much over the course of 15 minutes. I know I can bounce back next weekend in Anaheim so I'm looking forward to it." 33 JOSH GRANT 9TH 450SX Monster Energy Kawasaki's only rider in the Houston 450SX main event, Josh Grant, found himself in a race-long battle with Broc Tickle and Geico Honda's Jeremy Martin and ended up ninth. "There are a lot of positives we can build on," Grant said. "Tak- ing the holeshot in my heat race showed our hard work on my starts is paying off. We're in the hunt, I'm feeling confident and we'll continue to put in the work so we can be on the podium."
