VOL. 55 ISSUE 1 JANUARY 9, 2018 P69
Winner Zach Bell
starts one of the
many special tests
over the weekend
during the inaugural
Sprint Hero Enduro at
Glen Helen.
Riders were started on each loop
in 20-second intervals and were
challenged to run a full-out lap,
followed by a break. The racer
in each class that has the lowest
total time on course over the two
days is the winner.
At this event, WORCS had
three tests: an enduro test, a
motocross test and a cross test.
The Pros ran all three, while the
balance of the 22 classes com-
prising adult, women and youth
racers ran just the enduro and
motocross sections. All events will
have at least two tests.
The Pro-class racers particular-
ly enjoyed the format, because it
allowed them to analyze each lap
T
he Sprint Hero Racing
Series kicked off its first-
ever three-venue, six-race
schedule at Glen Helen Raceway.
The unique race-the-clock event
brought the sprint off-road for-
mat west of the Mississippi with
a unique West Coast flare. Zach
Bell scored the overall victory
ahead of Justin Jones. Travis Coy
finished third.
The new series, which ben-
efits the DA8 Strong Founda-
tion, is the brainchild of WORCS
promoter Sean Reddish. The
event was held on six miles of
motocross, single track and sand
sections that were separated into
full-length loops called "tests."
