In a shorter season than his predecessors,
Mees captured the most podium finishes ever in
a single year topping Scott Parker and Ricky Gra-
ham. Amazingly in the 17 races he qualified for, he
posted 10 wins, six seconds and one third.
"Its unreal to get the career most podiums ever,
out of all the greatest racers in the world," said the
champ. "It's really cool these days to be in the same
sentences as Ricky Graham and Scotty Parker. We
matched Scotty Parker's career-best wins and that's
something to be proud of. Every main event that we
were physically in we were on the podium. My worst
finish in a main event was third."
While Mees dominated the 25-lap main event,
there was a battle royal over second through sev-
enth on the slick clay groove.
"There wasn't a lot of room to maneuver. I got out
front early and put in the laps quick and hard and
got away," said Mees. "I maintained it from there. I
