IN THE WIND P34 AFRICA TWIN MAKES FLAT TRACK DEBUT O ver five months in the mak- ing, Ron Wood rolled out his brand new project at the AFT final at Perris Auto Speedway in Perris, California, October 7. His new beauty is based on the Honda Africa Twin 1000 engine and had Chad Cose at the con- trols. Struggling with teething prob- lems and the first time on the motorcycle, Cose finished 11th in both his heat and last chance race, missing the main event. Cose said that the bike worked pretty well considering it was on the track for the first time. The wide engine and result- ing lack of ground clearance in the turns proved to be a hurdle that needs to be resolved. CN PHOTOGRAPHY BY DAVE HOENIG This is Ron Woods' latest creation—a Honda Africa Twin- power flat tracker. It made its debut at the Perris Half Mile with mixed results.
