VILLOPOTO TO RACE RED BULL
STRAIGHT RHYTHM
F
our-time AMA Supercross Champion Ryan Villopoto will com-
pete in the Red Bull Straight Rhythm at the Fairplex in Pomona,
California, October 21. Villopoto, who retired from full-time profes-
sional racing in 2015, will suit up for the Two-Stroke Shootout,
which is being introduced this year.
Chad Reed has also said he's going to race the Two-Stroke
Shootout, including Mike Brown, Ronnie Mac and Ryan Sipes.
This will mark the first U.S. race for Villopoto since his retirement
in July 2015—and the first time he's ever raced a two-stroke in pro
competition. Reed hasn't raced a two-stoke in 12 years, since the
2005 Supercross season.
In the Open class, Josh Hill will again compete on the Alta Mo-
tors Redshift MX electric bike. And what about Red Bull-sponsored
and former Straight Rhythm winner James Stewart? All is still quiet
at the Stewart camp. CN
