The Greatest
Nobody is ever "the greatest" at
anything forever. When we talk
about the greatest boxers of all
time, we bring up Ali or Tyson,
and their reigns were only for a
few years. It's usually just during
a particular period of time that
athletes reach their peak, and
that's how they end up judged by
history. In 2017, Team France's
Christophe Charlier became
lings to pass him back before
the finish. And in the final moto
of the day, Febvre ended up in a
battle with eventual moto winner
Max Anstie (Great Britain) and
Herlings, and ended up third.
The end of the final moto was a
cakewalk for both he and Paulin,
with 11 points to spare over
runner-up Netherlands.
And then there was France's
MX2 racer Christophe Charlier.
Romain Febvre, the 2015
MXGP Champion who has been
on the team since that same
year, was the top performer on
the slick English soil, scoring
a 2-3 as France's Open-class
racer, leading for a while in both
his motos. In moto two (his first
moto), he took over the lead
after eventual winner Jeffrey
Herlings (The Netherlands) went
down while leading only for Her-
Jeffrey Herlings won
a moto, leading the
Netherlands team to
second overall.
