VOL. 54 ISSUE 38 SEPTEMBER 26, 2017 P57
This was not the only excite-
ment, because their battle
allowed Oliveira to close right
up, over the line less than half a
second adrift after he'd sped up
later in the race.
He'd taken third off Marquez
on lap eight, with the injured
rider now dropping back rapidly,
to retire on lap 11 after falling to
10th—a pinched nerve meant he
had no feeling in his leg.
This put Luthi fourth, but he
had to fight to hang on to it as
(Above) Aleix Espargaro (left) and Lorenzo embrace. It was a happy race for
both Spaniards, with Espargaro the top independent team rider and Lorenzo
scoring his second Ducati podium. (Below) Happy days for Honda and Marc
Marquez (center). He's now 16 points clear at the head of the title chase.
