on home ground. As Robert pointed out a few
days before the start, "Obviously, they always say
that winning the first championship is hard, but
winning the second one is twice as hard.
"I think if we get through it again this year with-
out any bike malfunctions and riders getting hurt,
I think we have a great shot at taking the overall,

It would be no walk in the park, however. The
U.S. team returned full of confidence borne of
last year's historic first victory with three of the
four men on that squad: Thad Duvall, Taylor Rob-
ert (who won both the E2 class as well as overall
individual honors) and Kailub Russell. The only
one missing was Layne Michael, though he made
the trip as a member of the U.S. Junior World
Trophy team (for three riders under 24 years old).
