STORY AND PHOTOGRAPHY BY MARK KARIYA
H
aving skipped last year in Spain,
then having an apparent victory in
Slovakia in 2015 snatched away
several months afterward by judicial fiat,
France last triumphed at the Interna-
tional Six Days Enduro (ISDE) in 2014
in Argentina. That put them into a tie for
second with Finland for World Trophy
wins at eight apiece, Italy occupying the
top of the charts with 12.
Thus, with the 92nd edition of the
"Olympics of off-road motorcycling" tak-
ing place on home turf in Brive-la-Gail-
larde, France, the host nation wanted
desperately to take the FIM World
Trophy back from the U.S., as well as
any wins in the lesser categories.
