VOL. 54 ISSUE 30 AUGUST 1, 2017 P59 Not only was it his first podium finish outdoors in nine years, but Davalos is also the third 450cc rider on the Rockstar Energy Husqvarna team to have finished on the podium overall, joining Jason Anderson and Dean Wilson. My Own Race: 14 COLE SEELY 4TH 450MX (3-5) HRC Honda's Cole Seely has been improving his results recently. After suffering from a pulled leg muscle for much of the start of the outdoors, he struggled, but with the permis- sion of his team, he moved to Florida and hired a new trainer, and things are looking up. "It was a big change for me, and thanks to my team for letting me [move to Florida]," Seely said. "It's starting to look like it's for the better. I saw Martin [Davalos] up there [in moto two], and I tried to push forward in the middle to catch him, but he was riding really good, so." Still, for Seely, the third place in moto one was his first outdoor podium moto finish since round five last year. 4 BLAKE BAGGETT 5TH 450MX (7-4) Blake Baggett was on fire early in the championship, but ever since injuring his thumb when he came together with Jason Anderson at the RedBud National, he's lost some of his edge. Still, during that stretch, he's had three second-place moto finishes. Baggett says he's just trying to survive through the end of the championship. Will the weekend off help his thumb heal? "I wish the answer was yes, but no, I need surgery," Baggett said. "I'll prob- ably schedule it for the Monday after [the finale in] Indiana, but I'm going to fight to the bitter end. We're digging deep and trying to stay in the hunt, but at the same time, the thumb's damaged, it's injured, and it needs to be fixed, so I'm just trying to fight it out with everything I have, and today that was fifth."
