MOTOCROSS LUCAS OIL AMA PRO MOTOCROSS CHAMPIONSHIPS ROUND 6 / JULY 1, 2017 REDBUD / BUCHANAN, MICHIGAN P70 6 JEREMY MARTIN 3RD 250MX (1-8) The 2014 and 2015 250MX champ, Geico Honda's Jeremy Mar- tin put together a strong moto the first time out and led basically every inch of the race, from the holeshot to the checkered flag. In moto two, he had the holeshot again, but fell in the second turn, and that cost him what could have been a perfect day. "Yeah, it was unfortunate," Jeremy Martin said. "I got off to a great start in moto two. I had it. Then I just made a rookie move, or I don't know, a brain fart. Lost the front. Worked my way through the pack. I felt really good in moto two. I think it would have been a 1-1 day. I think I would have been more on Zach's pace, like he had in moto one when he was all over me. I felt good. It's unfortunate but we've got racing left. I'm looking forward to Southwick and Millville. We've got lots of racing left." 26 ALEX MARTIN 2ND 250MX (3-3) TLD/Red Bull KTM's Alex Martin would've had the overall win if he could've hung on in moto two. With a third in the first moto, he was leading moto two late when he fell in a corner before the sand whoops and lost the lead. The 3-1 would've won him the overall, but it wasn't to be. "My main goal was just to get ahead of Zach and get some points," Alex Martin said. "That's what I need to do right now before we let him get too far ahead. Everything was going good in that second moto. I was flowing, I was feeling good and I tried a different line in that sand corner. The front end just washed out. Just a rookie mistake. My glove actually almost came off. I was lucky I was able to put it on over the next table- top. I tried to make a charge on Mitchell, which, I couldn't believe he was up there. He was riding really well, same with Zach. I saw he was coming and I was putting my head down trying to catch those guys. Just couldn't get it done. Second overall, so we're consistent. That's a positive." 21 JASON ANDERSON 2ND 450MX (4-2) Rockstar Energy Husqvarna's Jason Anderson was part of a mas- sive first-turn pileup in the first moto, but still managed to come through the pack for fourth place. In moto two, he was up front the whole time, but just couldn't stay close enough to Eli Tomac and ended up second in the moto, and overall. "I just need to go faster the whole time," Anderson said. "I feel like I've got the speed, but he's just inching away toward the end of the moto. It's not like I'm tired, but it's just the speed where he's riding so fast. I'll get there. I'm putting myself in better situations, besides that first moto. Really want to keep charging..." 486 CHASE SEXTON 9TH 250MX (12-7) "Overall the day was good!" said Geico Honda's Chase Sexton, a local product from Illinois. "I was actually just having a lot of fun being back in the Midwest and riding RedBud! First moto got an awful start and fell in the third turn but came back from almost last to 12th. Second moto was fourth or fifth off the start and then when Jeremy fell I ran over his bike and got passed by a few people but was able to make some passes back and just put in some solid laps to get seventh. Overall happy with the weekend and looking forward to getting back to work!"
