VOL. 54 ISSUE 25 JUNE 27, 2017 P59
Wilson, Freddie Noren, Webb,
Barcia, Canard and Tickle.
"That was a lot better than
the first one, and it started with
that start," Tomac said. "I got a
really good jump out of the gate
and pretty much had it to the
first turn, and then Bogle stole
it away there, but once I got out
front, the bike felt awesome.
It was comfortable the whole
moto. I'm glad to rebound with
the overall. We've had a tough
couple weeks, so it's a good
week to step forward with the
team. I'm excited for next week-
end."
The 2-1 was good enough for
Tomac to take the win over An-
derson's 1-2 and Baggett's 3-3.
has managed to come through
after falling in turn one to finish
third in the moto.
"I couldn't believe it was
actually happening," Baggett
said. "I was just like, 'This can't
be happening. I can't be laying
in the first turn again.' But I
was. I just put my head down
and went as fast as I could!
We're in the hunt for the cham-
pionship, so if our bad days are
laying on the ground in the first
turn and then making it back to
third, I think we'll have a good
season. We're in this for the
long-haul."
At the finish, it was Tomac
by 26 seconds over Anderson,
Baggett, Peick, Bogle, Davalos,
turns later in a tight left-hander.
From there, Tomac was gone.
Bogle got up angry, though,
only falling back to fifth, and was
in a battle all the way to the finish
with Peick and Davalos.
Baggett got to work from
nearly dead-last. On lap one,
he came across the line in 31st.
On lap two, he was 20th. On lap
three, he was 16th, a lap after
that, he was 14th. And so it went
until he sat on Canard's tail in
eighth near the halfway point.
With four laps to go, Baggett
fought his way through the
Peick/Bogle/Davalos battle and
took over third, where he would
eventually finish. That's now
twice in three races that Baggett
Weston Peick had his
best ride of the year
and was happy to
leave Tennessee with
fourth overall.
