.~. .. . courage almost everybody. A few brave souls ventured out to Mt, View Cycle Park to join the officials in a cloud watch. The rain stopped just long enough for the officials to decide if the guys were crazy enough to ride - they were crazy enough to let them. The bigger bikes were sent out first in hopes they could work up a little traction for the smaller bikes. Nobody will ever know if it worked because every time you turned around there was a new downpour. , Among the Pros were three Boise ent ire riders who had come to Oregon for a full weekend of racing. Th'ey showed amazing poise for a bunch of dry landers accustomed to sandy soil. Local rider Lewis Swan rode way out front like his Suzuki had an outboard motor. Larry Buffington'had a second going for him unt il his Yamah a died in the last moto.: He held a brief Memorial service fo r it . Randy Lee st ruggled ,to second with a throttle that spun around as bad as his rear wh eel. Te rry Blaske (lIon ) was out fro nt th e firs t 250 J unior rnoto and slithered in to first in the las t lap of the second when .Mark Kraft (Suz) got into mud trouble . Mark Ruple and Mike Glenn traded Zookie wins in the Open In termediate, Ruple took the final moto checkered and the overall with a great war whoop. The Turkeys came, out in fo rce but the flock diminished drastically by the second moto. They're not so dumb - th ere was no life guards on du ty . A very determined looking Bob Williams (Suz) stayed mostly upright and out front for first. - • Memorial Day MX By Annette Fedan DUNLAP, CAL. , MAY 30 & 31 Two days of raci ng, a spaghetti dinner, movies, 'and -trophy pre- sentations highlighted the second annual Memorial Day Race at Dunlap.
