As the pack thinned out Batten schl ag moved into second to chase Rhyan. Scott Miller had his hands full while successfully holding off Pat Hubbs (Suz) for th ird . .After making up for a poor start, Stev e Rhyan pulled up on Battenschlag " to do battle for the lead. Bad luck hit Rhyan, however, and he was forced to DNF, allowing Battenschlag to take the mota win and th e overall. Meanwhile, Pat Hubbs, Rick Asch and Scott Miller had a great race going for the second position . Miller cut into the second spot whil e Rich Asch went third. Can-Ams COp Saddleback Sat By Danny Raymond ORANGE, CAL.,jUNE 12 As summer gets closer the races get bigger and better. Today was no exception, the tum out was only fair but the races couldn't get more exciting. Whittier Honda's Rob Zamora took home the 125 Pro overalls after bad luck hit sure winner, Kurt Sofka . The Can-Ams of Steve Rhyan and Rick Asch went one-two in the 250 Pro division, while j eff Eierstedt swept the Open Pro class with a perfect 1-1 score. During the 125s Kurt Sofka flew his Can Am mounted Rich Asch clinched a solid second place at Saddleback Saturday. (Below) Jerry Trajmar grinds his boot down in front of Asch. Q&E Yamaha into the lead during both motes, but with only two laps left in the final mota, Sofka slid out and was - trapped underneath his bike long enough for Rob Zamora (Han) to pass for the lead. While Zamora and Sofka were battling for first, Dave Eropkin (PK) and Tag Turner (T&M Han) were fighting for third. In the first mota Eropkin finally pulled Turner after Tag took a hard fall. During the second mota Eiopkin was forced to the sidelines after his rear tire went flat, leaving Pat Imbriale in third overall, behind Zamora and Sofka. Steve Rhyan had little trouble with the 250 Pro class. He easily walked away from and finally lapped' nearly half the class. Throughout both motos Rick Asch and jerry Trojmar must have swapped places at least five times. For the entire 40 minute motos they would be only ten feet apart. However, Trojrnar was forced to slow after losing both his seat and pipe, allowing second to go to Asch. • Results in Results Section. Outrageous OTHG: At it again at the Dunes By LuciousLeRoy VALENCIA, CAL.,jUNE 6 Indian Dunes greeted a heavy CRC race entry with a greatly changed Shadow Glen course. CRC had planned three motos for all Junior 22 classes and two for Pros. The general agreement was, they wouldn't get them all off.
