Stollings was able to take the lead on lap
six and was looking to repeat his dominating
results from the Lexington Mile. Avery held
on to second for a couple of laps, but Texter
was tenacious taking second on lap nine.
On lap 13, Texter and Avery both blasted
by as Stollings' race came to a smoky
end down the front straight. The battle for
the lead was well ahead of Parker Norris
(Goodroe Racing/Team G Honda) as he
was now all by himself in third.
Texter was not to be denied and despite
having to ride the maximum number of laps
to make the main she held Avery off by a
scant 0.141 seconds.
"This weekend [Father's Day] means so
much," Texter said. "We were battling in the
heat race, and my exhaust plug fell out [trig-
gering a sound check failure], so I had to
go to the LCQ. I had to do some extra laps,
and in this heat, it was tiring."
"I was riding behind Tristan and Stollings
all day and seeing what they were doing.
I tried to capitalize on it," added Texter.
"It was a long 15 laps, and I just had to be
smart."
Over 14 seconds back was a great battle
over what would become fourth. Kolby Car-
