VOL. 54 ISSUE 23 JUNE 13, 2017 P29 over Desalle, and 48 points over Paulin, as the series heads to round 11, to take place at Cairoli's home race in Italy in two weeks' time. In the MX2 class, Red Bull KTM's Pauls Jonass has been the man to beat all year long, and in Russia he got beat in both motos—and was even lapped in moto two—yet he still won. Jonass finished a strong second in the first moto behind Rockstar Energy Husqvarna's Thomas Kjer Olsen. Olsen led every lap of the opening moto, but went down on the opening lap of moto two and his motorcycle was too dam- aged to continue. The second moto was all Suzuki's Jeremy Seewer. Seewer was forced to throw away his goggles early in race one and could only manage seventh place. He rectified that in moto two by moving himself into the lead and even- tually lapping every other rider on the track except for second place, which went to Brian Bogers. The HSF Logis- tics KTM rider finished two minutes and 32 seconds behind Seewer. Then came overall winner Jonass, one lap back. "It was tough out there," Seewer said. "I just did my laps. I didn't know I was PHOTOGRAPHY BY KTM MEDIA leading and at the finish I was told that I had nearly lapped everyone and that was cool to see that and realize it at the finish line." Bogers ended up third overall in the mud with a solid 6-2 score. Jonass carries a 45-point lead as the se- ries head to Italy for round 11 in two weeks. CN MXGP 1. Clement Desalle (Kaw) 3-1 2.
