DESALLE SCORES IN RUSSIA MXGP
M
otocross is a sport run
regardless of the weather.
Round 10 of the 2017 FIM Moto-
cross World Championships ran
in the heavy mud of Orlyonok,
Russia, but the winners were the
same as at round nine in Ernee,
France.
In MXGP, Red Bull KTM's
premier-class rookie Jeffrey
Herlings passed his way into
the lead in moto one to take the
victory, but it was Ernee win-
ner Clement Desalle who came
away with the overall, going
3-1 on the day on his Monster
Energy Kawasaki.
Herlings struggled in moto
two after a bad start and ended
up eighth, but his 1-8 score was
good for second overall. Rock-
star Energy Husqvarna's Gautier
Paulin was third with a 5-3 score
in front of teammate Max Anstie,
whose fourth on the day was a
career-best in his rookie MXGP
(450cc) campaign.
Points leader Antonio Cairoli
finished a strong second in the
first moto, but the Red Bull KTM
pilot struggled behind his team-
mate Herlings in moto two and
ended up with a 2-9 on the day
for fifth overall.
Despite the off-day, Cairoli
carries a strong, 47-point lead
Things went Clement
Desalle's way at the GP of
Russia, where he took the
win with a 3-1 tally.
