LAFFERTY TOPS
PENNSYLVANIA HARE
SCRAMBLES
R
ain several days before the
event left ideal conditions
for the fifth stop of the SRT-AMA
East Hare Scramble Series, a
triple-sanctioned affair that took
place in Three Springs, Pennsyl-
vania's Rocket Raceway, June
3-4. Local favorite Ryder Laf-
ferty took full advantage of the
great traction in the woods and
led the way from start to finish
to take a convincing win over
"Wild" Wally Palmer and defend-
ing champion Kyle McDonal.
Sixteen AA racers lined up for
Sunday's two-hour main race,
which covered nine miles of
grass-track, woods and moto
sections. Lafferty immediately
set the pace by taking
the early lead, emerging
from the woods in the
opening lap with a six-
second gap over Palmer.
McDonal, who was
supposed to be "taking
it easy" following his re-
cent wrist surgery, gave
chase in third place.
Despite Palmer's best
efforts to utilize his motocross
skills to reel in Lafferty in the
moto section of the course,
Palmer couldn't make up for
Lafferty's woods experience
that goes back three genera-
tions. Lafferty held his lead to
the checkers with Palmer 30
seconds back. McDonal held on
to collect third place. CN

FOLGER STAYS PUT
S
econd Monster Yamaha Team rider Jonas Folger
has been signed up to stay on the team next
year, alongside star teammate Johann Zarco, whose
contract had already been renewed.
Zarco has grabbed the headlines with a series
of stunning performances, including second place
last time out at his home GP in France. But Ger-
man 125, Moto3 and Moto2 GP winner Folger
hasn't been that far behind, though his results
have suffered with relatively poor qualifying and a
lack of speed in the early laps. All the same he has
finished outside the top 10 only once, with a best
of sixth in Argentina, and is the only MotoGP rider
to have scored points in every race this year.
Michael Scott
Jonas Foger extended his contract with his
current Monster Yamaha Team.
