Y
amaha Factory Racing has unveiled its team for the
2017 Suzuka 8 Hour, with factory Pata Yamaha WorldS-
BK rider Michael van der Mark joining Alex Lowes and
Katsayuki Nakasuga.
The current champions will enter the legendary race
alongside the official Yamaha Endurance team—Yamaha
Austria Racing Team (YART)—and GMT94 Yamaha, who
have taken the past two race victories in the 2016/2017
Endurance World Championship.
Yamaha Factory Racing haven't lost at the 8 Hour since the inception of the
current generation Yamaha YZF-R1, with former MotoGP Tech3 riders Bradley
Smith and Pol Espargaro winning in 2015, and Smith, Lowes and Nakasuga
taking the honors in 2016. CN
Michael van der Mark
will be hoping to seal
a magic three-peat
for Yamaha at the 8
Hour this year.
BMW SHOW OFF NEW CONCEPT LINK
"The BMW Motorrad Concept Link
stands for a new understanding of
urban mobility. It links the digital and
analog worlds and places the focus
on the rider and his mobility needs,"
says Edgar Heinrich, Head of Design
of BMW Motorrad.
The Concept Link uses innovation
from the much talked about Vision
Next 100 that was released last year,
but compresses it into an ultra-small
package.
Electrically powered by panels on
the chassis floor, the Concept Link is
designed to be almost a smart scoot-
er, acting like a mobile version of
your phone. It knows what's in your
calendar, is connected to Google
Maps to get you to your next destina-
tion in the fastest possible time and
can communicate with other vehicles
on the road to reduce the chance of
an accident. CN
A
t the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este in Lake
Como in Italy, BMW Motorrad took the covers
off the new Concept Link scooter, designed for
the next generation of zero-emissions riding.
The Concept Link is
designed to be a smart
scooter. The integrated
generation is coming.
