IN THE WIND P48 CAIROLI, SEEWER GRAB WINS AT TEUTSCHENTHAL A ntonio Cairoli chalked up another MXGP victory in Teutschenthal, Germany, May 21, while Jeremy Seewer scored a hard-fought win in MX2, de- spite American Thomas Cov- ington getting the second-moto win. In the premier MXGP class, Cairoli and his Red Bull KTM teammate Jeffrey Herlings traded moto wins, but it was Cairoli who topped the all-impor- tant tie-breaking second moto, which puts his name down in the record book as the official GP winner. Cairoli had his chance to win the first moto, as he grabbed an early lead but could hold off Herlings late in the race. Herlings worked his way up through the field, and when Cairoli bobbled, it was enough for Herlings to eventually make the pass for the win. Cairoli again got out in front early in the second moto, while Herlings was mired back in the pack off the start. Herlings again fought his way up through the pack in round two, but this time when he got into second, Cairoli was long gone, forcing Herlings to settle for second in the race and on the day. Third overall went to Husqvar- na's Gautier Paulin who went 3-3 on the day. But it was a very good day for the Frenchman, as he gained big points on cham- pionship runner-up Tim Gajser, who rode in pain, the result from a crash earlier in the qualifiers. The defending champ, Gajser, went 12-10 on the day for 11th overall. Paulin is now just one point behind Gajser in third. Cairoli, however, still enjoys a comfortable points lead; the Italian now has 305 points to Gajser's 261.
