BY KEVIN MCKENNA PHOTOGRAPHY COURTESY NHRA N itro Fish Suzuki's LE Tonglet defeated three other riders to win the NHRA Four-Wide Nationals at zMax Dragway in Charlotte, North Carolina, April 28-30. Tonglet won the final by beating Screamin' Eagle Harley-David- son teammates Eddie Krawiec and Andrew Hines as well as Scotty Pollacheck, the rider of the Underdahl Racing, Suzuki Extended Protection Suzuki. The Four-Wide Nationals is a unique drag racing event where com- petitors race four-abreast on the four lanes of zMax Dragway. The first and second-place finishers from each heat advance until the final, where a winner is crowned. "This is unbelievable, espe- cially after what we've gone through this weekend," Tonglet said. "We qualified number eight and that's not that great. Everything just worked out in our favor. I ran 6.82 in the first round and the bike hauled butt the rest of the day. This is really cool. There is only one Four- Wide race a year so there are not many people who have done this. It means a lot. In year's past we've had bad luck in first or second round. For everything VOL. 54 ISSUE 17 MAY 2, 2017 P107 CHARLOTTE WIN TO TONGLET
