RACING CHAMPIONSHIP VOL. 54 ISSUE 17 MAY 2, 2017 P93 journalist Michael Gilbert (Team MG55 Yamaha). Like Elias in Superbike, however, the Sunday Supersport 600 race would see a European on the top step of the box, as Debise pulled a rabbit out of his hat, beating Gerloff to the line by 0.308 seconds with Beach 0.734 seconds behind in third. The top three positively ran away with the race. Brandon Paasch, in only his third 600cc start was an excel- lent fourth, but a massive 36 seconds behind at the flag. Rounding out the top five was Solis, 0.4 seconds off Paasch. "They were tight to me and I had a plan, different than yesterday of course us behind the eight ball a little bit. It was a little difficult to keep up with Valentin in the first part of the race, but that red flag allowed us to make some changes to our bike. It was working a little bit better on the restart. Valentin is definitely riding strong, but we definitely have a fast bike that has a lot of strengths." Beach led the re-started race early, but ran off the track in the final corner early, dropping to 11th before charging through to third, putting two Monster Energy/ Yamalube/Y.E.S./Graves Yamahas on the podium. Team H35 Honda's Benny Solis was fourth with im- pressive class rookie Brandon Paasch rounding out the top five on his M4 The 22 Project Suzuki. The Superstock 600 race saw the coming-of-age of M4 medAge Suzuki's Nick McFadden. The 19-year-old Kentucky rider rode a controlled race to finish just three seconds off his Supersport-mounted teammate Paasch, leading home the Agullar Racing Yamaha YZF-R6 of Ja- son Agullar and Sport Rider magazine (Right) Nick McFadden smoked the competition in Superstock 600.
