SUPERCROSS MONSTER ENERGY AMA SUPERCROSS SERIES ROUND 15 / APRIL 22, 2017 RICE-ECCLES STADIUM / SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH P104 1 RYAN DUNGEY 2ND 450SX "Tonight was really good," Ryan Dungey said, trying to remain upbeat. "But winning...we've got to win. Eli was riding good tonight. He caught us, ran us down, passed us. It's what it was. In the beginning there, I was really hitting my marks. I thought my lap times were good. I changed my line up in the whoops; I was fighting them all day. I lost a lot of time there. Then once Eli got by me I realized what he was doing and I just caught on and my lap times came down. So he was still inching away, but I'm glad we regrouped and recovered. Positive tonight is we got two really good starts. I was really happy about that. Got some good laps in. Just, man, I was hoping to get up front and take it all the way. It doesn't hap- pen like that all the time. So, bummer. We put ourselves out there and came up a little short. So overall it was a good day. For how the track was, how the bike felt, everything, I'm really happy with a lot of things. It's just, that second-place finish, I wish we were one step further. But we'll make a strong effort this week and get ready for New Jersey." 21 JASON ANDERSON 3RD 450SX Rockstar Energy Husqvarna's Jason Anderson ran second for most of the main event, and ended up third after Tomac went by. "I'm kind of on the outside looking in every weekend," Anderson said. "It gets old, but at the same time, I've been progressing. My starts have been better. I've been hanging up there a little bit better toward the middle of the moto. But all in all I just really want to put this Rockstar Husqvarna up there and I want to battle with these guys. I want to get a win, but they're not making it easy on me. Eli's frickin' rippin' and then you've got Ryan, he's always rippin' as well. We're really working hard and we're going to keep progressing." 46 JUSTIN HILL 3RD 250SX WEST Although Monster Energy/Pro Circuit Kawasaki's Justin Hill barely held on to third place in the Salt Lake City 250SX main, it was enough to clinch the championship for him and his Pro Circuit team. "We work so hard, you know?" Hill said. "This is my fifth time around. It's been a dream of mine since I was a kid. My family is here. I'm going to tear up, this is awesome... Really, we [Hill and his Pro Circuit team] just know each other better now. This is the second time around. When you go somewhere else and then come back, which I was grateful for Mitch Payton just giving me the opportunity, I was so excited. I wanted to fill that little spot on his door that is empty and we did it, just now." 28 MITCHELL OLDENBERG 2ND 250SX WEST TLD Red Bull KTM's Mitchell Oldenberg has been coming on like gang- busters at the end of the 250SX West Series after injuring his shoulder in San Diego early in the season and missing much of the championship. His second-place finish in Salt Lake City is a career best. "It's unreal, to be honest with you," Oldenberg said. "I can honestly say I would not be up here if it wasn't for Shane [McElrath]. I'm with the guy everyday—on the bicycle rides, in the gym, doing motos. Everyday he's on my butt or I'm on his butt and we're pushing each other. It's a nonstop grind with the kid. I'm pumped for him and just ecstatic to go 1-2. This is a big deal for us, espe- cially coming off my best finish last weekend. To back it up with a second, it's just, what if? What if we didn't get hurt, where would we be? So I'm just really excited. I could not do it without the whole GoPro Red Bull KTM team. This is just a dream come true for me. Second is first loser, but I'm okay with losing to 'Moody.'"
