and how it can't happen again,
but the first turn, because of
my good gate pick, I could turn
up the inside and still come out
fifth," Seewer added. "Some
guys were then flying past me
and I thought maybe I was going
too slow, but then the next lap,
they'd get stuck. I just kept going,
racing my own race and then,
suddenly on the pit board, I saw
I was in first. I just tried to finish
it and that's how it ended up. In
mud races it isn't about doing
the fastest laps, it's about surviv-
ing; you need to make your laps
without mistakes because if you
make a mistake, you are dead.
I'm just happy though, we've
come a long way to get here, and
to get the win is massive."
TM-mounted Italian Samuele
Bernardini was eighth in the
opening moto, but he got out
front early and pulled away to
win moto two; his 8-1 score plac-
ing him second overall on the
day, just in front of LRT KTM's
Julien Lieber (3-4).
Lieber took over the points
lead with his 3-4 score, while
round-one winner (and points
leader coming into round two
in Indonesia) Pauls Jonass
struggled in the mud to 14th
in the first moto, and a 25th in
moto two, dropping him to fifth in
points.
The muddy conditions weren't
kind to American Thomas
Covington, though the Rockstar
Energy Husqvarna Team rider
broke into the top 10 in the sec-
ond moto with an eighth.
Last week's winner and red
plate holder, Red Bull KTM's
Antonio Cairoli managed to hang
on for fourth under the extreme
conditions and maintains the
points lead as the series heads
to round three in Argentina in
two weeks' time. CN

Monster Energy Yamaha's Ro-
main Febvre got the holeshot in
the first (and as it turned out, the
only) moto, but the track wasn't
kind to the 2015 World Cham-
pion. He ended up 15th.
In his second race for Wilvo
Yamaha, Scotsman Shaun Simp-
son fought his way through the
muck to take the win.
"It was good," Simpson said.
"I was able to make some good
moves the first few laps and I
was in the lead about halfway
through the race!"
Simpson finished just over
seven seconds ahead of Red
Bull KTM Factory Racing's
Glenn Coldenhoff. In third
was Monster Energy Kawa-
saki's Clement Desalle who was
closing in late in the moto and
finished less than five seconds
behind Coldenhoff.
