T
he Indonesian round of the
2017 FIM World Motocross
Championships—round two of
the series—was met with rain
and the resulting mud in Pangkal
Pinang, Indonesia, March 4-5.
The craggy mud made racing
less about winning or losing and
more about surviving, and it got
so bad that the second MXGP
moto (the final moto of the day)
was canceled, mainly because
be the end of the second MX2
moto, hardly anyone could com-
plete a lap without get stuck.
Winners were, however, pro-
duced. Suzuki's Jeremy Seewer
captured the overall win for the
first of the Swiss rider's career,
and Great Britain's Shaun Simp-
son (Yamaha) was declared the
overall MXGP winner by way of
his first-moto win (there was no
second moto).
MX2
The MX2 class was the first to
take on the tough conditions,
and unlike the MXGP class, the
MX2 field actually got two shots
at the track, although moto two
was cut short because of the
bike-grabbing mud.
Seewer snatched the overall
win with a 1-2 score.
"It's just an awesome feeling
to win," Seewer said. "It was
done in some strange circum-
stances; I couldn't raise my
hand up at the end of race two,
because it wasn't definitely done
with the red flag, but once I got
back to the pits, I knew.
"First moto, I got a bad start
and I was thinking back to Qatar,
Jeremy Seewer shined in
the muddy conditions at
the MXGP in Indonesia. He
came away with his first-
ever MX2 overall win.
