IN THE WIND P30 HONDA, GAGNE TAKE ON SUPERBIKE MOTOAMERICA H onda announced that it will participate in the upcom- ing MotoAmerica Championship with an official superbike team. It was announced last week at the Honda race shop in Torrance, California. The official name of the team will be Genuine Broaster Chicken Honda and will support one rider, Jake Gagne, who will ride Honda's new CBR1000RR SP2. Danny Walker will run the team out of his race shop in Fort Col- lins, Colorado. Walker's outfit previously ran as Roadrace Fac- tory with Yamaha support for the last five years. "I am proud to bring this new superbike to the field," Gagne said. "I have not ridden the bike yet but will be taking one with me today and plan to ride a few track days at Chuckwalla in the next few weeks. I will ride it stock to just get a feel for the Honda to start. "I am also looking forward to picking up a new Honda CRF450R to use for training today, as well," Gagne added. (Gagne has qualified for a 450 MX National in the past.) "[We want to be] consistently in the hunt for the podium by the end of the year," Walker said of his and the team's goals. "Then we want to challenge for the championship the following year. "We have a multi-year agree- ment with Honda and Genuine Broaster Chicken, so we can de- velop the bike and program. We first talked with Honda two years ago about this." Based in Wisconsin, Genuine Broaster Chicken got involved with racing about five years ago when it sponsored an event at Mid-Ohio. Broaster president Jay Cipra said, "We think this is a good way to promote both the product and the sport." CN Honda will join superbike racing in MotoAmerica with Jake Gagne at the controls of the Genuine Broaster Chicken CBR1000RR SP2. ROCZEN ENDURES EIGHTH SURGERY K en Roczen underwent his eighth surgery to repair the arm he basically destroyed in his crash at the Anaheim II Supercross, January 21. And if you thought eight surger- ies is enough, he has another surgery scheduled tomorrow (February 22). Roczen's latest Instagram post read: "Went in for surgery #8 yesterday and the pain afterwards was absolutely mis- erable that anybody that looked at me I wanted to punch in the face, even my woman. Lol (sarcastically) Doc said it was a very difficult and challenging surgery because ev- erything was so damaged…Again, I believe in what he [my doctor] does and to be able to come back good I'd rather follow his lead and take our time. Having another surgery on Wednesday and I hope that'll be it." CN PHOTOGRAPHY BY STEVE COX PHOTOGRAPHY BY SEAN FINLEY Ken Roczen's spirits still seem high after enduring his eighth surgery.
