ROAD RACE
FIM MOTOGP WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP
ROUND 17 / OCTOBER 30, 2016
SEPANG INTERNATIONAL CIRCUIT / SEPANG, SELANGOR, MALAYSIA
P70
Moto3
For a second successive race,
the Moto3 race was emascu-
lated by multiple crashes—a fate
the junior class usually evades,
in spite of the close racing. Out
of 31 starters, there were only 17
finishers. And with one of those
crashes cutting the lead group
from four to one, the survivor—
Mahindra's Pecco Bagnaia—had
a lonely ride to his second win
of the year, by a yawning gulf of
seven seconds.
The pile-ups started at the
second corner, when Andrea Mi-
gno (SKY VR46 KTM), Juanfran
Guevara (RBA KTM) and Bas-
tianini substitute Ayumu Sasaki
(Gresini Honda) all tangled up.
Only a little further around,
Jorge Martin (Aspar Mahindra)
highsided in the middle of the
pack, taking four other riders
with him, getting run over in the
process but able to walk away.
It was another crashfest in Moto3.
This time Francesco Bagnaia was
the top man left standing.
