onathan Rea (KRT) became
the first rider since Carl
Fogarty to win the FIM Su-
perbike World Championship in
consecutive seasons after finish-
ing the opening race at Losail in
a strong second place. Strong,
but still almost four seconds
from the winner.
Having entered the Losail
weekend some 48 points ahead
of his nearest rival, his own
teammate Tom Sykes, Rea's
foregone conclusion of a cham-
pionship win, his second for
Kawasaki, was finally put out of
sight by his first podium position
